Italian-threaded bottom bracket shells are typically found on Italian-brand road bikes. The shell measures 70mm wide and has a 35mm inner diameter. This kit has all the pieces necessary to install 24mm diameter cranks, such as those from Shimano, FSA, and others into an ITA shell. CeramicSpeed bearings are pressed into threaded cups, then those cups are threaded into the frame. You choose whether you want yours equipped with Standard or Coated Bearings. Super-round, super-smooth CeramicSpeed balls rotate in hardened-steel races in both. The Coated version has a metallic coating laid onto the races, making them even harder and smoother, resulting in longer life and lower drag. ITA BBs, thanks to the popularity of Italian road bike design, still have a following. The drive-side cup needs to be properly secured, but once that's done, the system is excellent. 24mm cranks work better when mated to our bearings. To make your bike as efficient as possible, you must reduce mechanical drag. Bottom brackets have a measurable effect on speed. CeramicSpeed balls are 100% smoother and 15% harder than the ceramic competition. They run on smoother races, too. That means our Standard Bearing BBs have 75% less drag compared to typical bottom brackets. And, the bearings last at least 3x longer than other bearings. All these frame standards have a 46mm inner diameter and smooth insides, though the widths vary from 68mm to 86mm. This bottom bracket features nearly zero loss of power due to friction, thanks to the CeramicSpeed's incredibly efficient bearings. Choose either our Standard or Coated Bearings—both have super-round, super-smooth CeramicSpeed balls rolling on hardened-steel races. The Coated version has a metallic coating laid onto the races, making them even harder and smoother and resulting in longer life and lower drag. They come installed in cups. 30mm spindles on cranks are increasingly popular because of the high stiffness and low weight. 46mm inner diameter bottom brackets are popular for the freedom they offer designers in building frames. Standard Bearings typically have frictional drag of 0.3-0.4 watts per set. That's in the range of a 75% drag reduction versus conventional BBs. SRAM saw the opportunity to make a better press fit system where all the best from BB30 and PressFit bottom brackets would be combined into one captivating package. Pressfit 30 will feature an integrated seal, pre-assembled into the cups, to further prolong bearing life. The key difference with Pressfit 30 is how the bearings are fitted into the frame. Bearings are housed in nylon cups which will be pressed into the frames bottom bracket shell. This bottom bracket is designed for 30mm spindle cranksets. Frames will need a 46mm inner-diameter bottom bracket shell to accommodate this system.
